Graduated in Clube Atletico Mineiro base, He came to the club in 1992 and stayed until 2001. He was a midfielder at Venda Nova Futebol Clube´s school in 1991 and became a champion by playing the Copa Diario da Tarde at this same year, beating Atletlico at the end of the championship and that made Atletico interested in him. In the beginning of the year, The coach Irineu Fernandes brought him to play in Atletico and there he had the chance to improve more and more.

He was placed in every category of the club and became a professional in 1999. He became champion by playing Campeonato infantil, juvenil and junior for Atletico Mineiro.

Even as a midfielder He always liked to play as defender too. And that made of him a very good and strong defender with a very good technique.

In 1999 he was lent to Uberlandia Futebol clube , with all of the junior players. And in the first year as a professional he became champion for the module B. When he returned to Atletico he was required by the coach (Dario Pereira) to play in the professional league , participating in the vice Brazilian champion team.
